Job Description
Summary
Develops and implements cost accounting systems and processes by performing the following duties. 

Duties and responsibilities 
Accountable for the ongoing analysis of cost of goods sold, job costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. Constructs and monitors those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management. 
Collects on Development
1. Improve and monitor direct labor reporting to production jobs. Reconcile to ADP Payroll.
2. Develop procedure to capture movement of inventory throughout the production process. Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
3. Initiate month end closing procedures for journal entries as necessary to record inventory movement and valuation.
4. Responsible for all aspects of fixed assets including capital requests, asset ledgers and depreciation calculations, and our fixed asset inventory.
Inventory
1. Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts with Inventory Manager.
2. Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues.
3. Reconcile inventory valuation on a monthly basis. Review for accuracy.
4. Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
5. Develop and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
6. Work with Inventory Control to locate and dispose of obsolete inventory.
Analysis
1. Be part of the team that analyzes completed jobs for accuracy, errors, missing components, take corrective action.
2. Report on breakeven points for products.
3. Report on margins by product group and market.
4. Report on periodic variances and their causes.
5. Perform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.
6. Analyze Work in Process activity for potential issues.
Reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Education and/or Experience 
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance. Able to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through a minimum of 3 years of Job Costing experience. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles & costs accounting standards, regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees of the organization. Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in writing or orally. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Physical Demands
General office environment. Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. May occasionally involve repetitive movements. Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, bend, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less. Multi-tasking with frequent interruptions. Occasionally write by hand, use a telephone, twist, bend, stoop and squat.

Working Conditions 
May require extensive work hours during peak business planning cycles.
