Job Description
Communicates with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, availability, and delivery. Expedites delivery of goods to end users. Procures products, materials, and supplies, while maintaining pricing and delivery schedules. Assists with all internal and external customer needs and resolving any issues that arise.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Obtain and evaluate quotes
Enter and maintain purchase order data per defined process 
Expedite Open Purchase orders.
Monitors and updates email traffic within Purchasing inbox, recording/updating relative information and advising Buyers as necessary.
Update Buyers concerning delays.
Assist in weekly reporting of component status, through various weekly reports.
Review and resolve any discrepancies for both internal and external customers/suppliers.
Escalates Issues from Suppliers to Buyers.
Continually monitors process and recommends improvements.
Uses company determined computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and the company selected ERP system (currently Epicor).
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience 
1-3 years purchasing experience and a 2 or 4-year college degree in business preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and written documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or requests for detailed information from management. Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, vendors, and/or company employees.
Mathematical Skills
General Math with ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, fractions and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
Preferred Skills
Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) before diverse groups of customers or employees of organization. Additionally, great organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and detail oriented. Proficient with personal computer navigation and operation, MS Office and/or Epicor.

Physical Demands:
General office environment. Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks. May occasionally involve repetitive movements. Ability to continuously stand or walk. Ability to twist, bend, stoop, climb stairs, squat and lift frequently. Frequently push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing written and electronic figures, viewing a computer terminal, visual inspection involving small defects, and/or counting. Multi-tasking with frequent interruptions. Occasionally write by hand and use a telephone.

Work Environment
May require extensive work hours during peak business planning cycles.
